This is a picture (that I stole from Megan's blog...=0) thanks Megan) of Savannah when we were camping with her about a month ago. Poor Savannah was feeling really sick, but she was such a trooper. This is Savannah when Liv lent her this fuzzy pink hat. Savannah was tickled about it and gave Liv a big smile. I was so impressed with her ability to be happy over such little things when she was feeling so terrible. Such a brave little soul.

Savannah
Brad has been off for the last week, and I have a ton to document about our time together, but first I wanted to say a little word about little Savannah. She is a friend of Brad's family. He grew up with her aunt, and his dad grew up with her grandmother. We have become friends with her parents during the time that we have lived in Maine. Little Savannah past away last week after a 3 year battle with cancer. This past Thursday, Brad and I were privileged to go to her funeral, which was referred to as a celebration of her life. I feel like it really was just that. According to Savannah's wishes, everyone wore pink to the funeral. I would guess that hundreds of people came, all dressed in shades of pink. A few people were asked to speak. First her Grandfather who spoke of the peace that Savannah had throughout her illness. She wasn't afraid of death because she knew that she was going to live with God, and that her family bonds would not break after she died. She would be with her parents and siblings again, and they would be a family forever. A few more people spoke, and then her parents gave the eulogy together. They told so many cute, sweet stories about this brave little girl. It was a very emotional, yet peaceful experience. It is of course so sad to see that she had to suffer in her little body, and also that her parents will have to somehow learn to live while they miss their little one. Somehow it was a sweet experience also. Being able to share in that time to celebrate Savannah's life, and also celebrate knowing that she is not gone forever, that her family will have her and hold her again someday, and knowing that she is happy, living with God in heaven. Our prayers are with Savannah's family, we can only imagine what a hard time this has been and will continue to be for you.

Oh, sweet Savannah! Thanks for sharing your experience. It makes me think twice about complaining about the head cold I have right now.
How reassuring to know that she isn't gone forever!
It was so sweet that she was feeling so terrible but smiled for me! I love that picture! My parents asked for a copy too!
