Candy. With wrappers (like starbursts) so it takes more time to open them and eat them. And books to read and coloring books to color in. Simple, but it worked for Jane and Lucas.
They each have a back pack that I fill with suprises, cheap stuff from the dollar store, new coloring books, new pack of crayons... also, Crayola Color Wonder markers and coloring books are great because they love the idea of having markers in a place where they would normally not get to use them and you don't have to worry about them writing on the seats or each other :)
Have fun in St. Louis. When we lived in Illinois we were in the St. Louis Temple district and we really grew to love the city. The girls love the zoo and Cardinal games :)
When they were younger we would do ring pops--they would entertain them for a good long while! And stickers. They also really love simple hand-held games you can get at Walmart.

Have a fun trip!
Play-dough and puzzles.
I was going to say the Color Wonder markers too. My kids love them. Also Andrew loves maze books. That would keep him busy for hours.
